Sunburned through clothing?

The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of a shirt varies significantly from shirt to shirt. You can still get UV rays through the shirt you are wearing, so think again before you head to the beach in just a tee! In the past, SunFriendlyProducts.com has received calls from customers who have actually burned in a t-shirt, or under an umbrella at a day at the beach. This might be due to the type of stitch on the fabric used.

SunFriendlyProducts.com has provided an example of two t-shirts, displaying the varying degrees of sun protection in which they offer. The first shirt is a Fruit Of The Loom t-shirt. As you can tell by the photo, the fabric stitch is not tight. Very little light is coming through the Solaroo UV blocking t-shirt.

Keep these photo's in mind when throwing one on before heading to the beach, avoid the burn.
